Pedestrian hit by car on Albany's New Scotland Avenue

ALBANY — A 26-year-old man is in serious condition after being hit by a car on New Scotland Avenue Wednesday, city police spokesman Officer Steve Smith said.

The pedestrian was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital after police responded to the 4:50 p.m. crash, Smith said.

The driver, who was not hurt, stopped after hitting the man on foot, Smith said.

The crash occurred New Scotland Avenue near the intersection with South Manning Boulevard. The road was closed for hours between South Allen and South Manning while police investigated, Smith said.
