Pair face drug charges following Albany traffic stop

— A local couple was arrested following a traffic stop in Albany on Sunday night.

State Police from the Latham barracks stopped a vehicle on Interstate 90 for operating with no headlights.

The driver, 24-year-old Alicia Bender of Schenectady, was found with plastic baggies of marijuana and a glass smoking pipe containing the drug.

She was also found with amphetamine/dextroamphetamine tablets, a generic for the prescription stimulant, Adderall.

The passenger, 29-year-old Richard Pena of Albany, was found with the prescription pain killer hydrocodone.

Bender was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. Pena was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. Both were scheduled for an appearance in the Albany City Court on December 7.
