JOHNSON CITY (WBNG) — It may seem early to be eating some turkey, but more than 300 people came out for the 26th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner hosted by the YMCA West Family Branch on Sunday.
The Thanksgiving dinner was free and open to the public.
More than 30 volunteers assisted in helping make the event possible.
The dinner included, turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, pumpkin pie and other tasty food choices.
Organizers said its rewarding to put on this dinner year after year.
“It happens because everyone comes together, which is a great message from the Y, we are for all,” said YMCA Member Director Karen Berman. “So for us to give back to the community is just a wonderful feeling.”
The YMCA received a generous amount of donations from the community and it’s YMCA members to make the dinner possible. They received 19 turkeys, several canned foods and cash donations.
