BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — People filled Court Street in downtown Binghamton on Saturday to support a local organization.

The 5th Annual VINES Coffee Bag Silent Auction was held. VINES stands for Volunteers Improving Neighborhood Environments.

The event auctioned off crafty and artistic items made from recycled burlap coffee bags.

Attendees received a number at the door at local businesses like Laveggio Roasteria, Chroma Cafe & Bakery, Gennarelli’s Flower Shop, and the Loft at 99.

Then those who received a number were to bid anonymously on items.

“I love putting on this event. It’s very fun. It’s a great way to support our local businesses that are supporting us,” Executive Director of VINES Amelia LaDolce said.

The money raised from the silent auction will go to support VINES programs such as community gardens, urban agriculture, and youth employment.
