BINGHAMTON, NY (WBNG) — Clinton Street used to be one of Binghamton’s most popular shopping areas. Now, local businesses are trying to bring that recognition back.

Shop owners held their third monthly “Second Saturday” on Saturday. The event aims to attract people to the stores lining the street, especially the famed “Antique Row”.

“We’re looking forward to it every time,” said Julianne Sauger of 99 Clinton Street Antiques. “We’re seeing an increase in business and people that just have never been to Clinton Street or really didn’t have an interest in antiques before, coming in to the shop.”

Some businesses like Sauger’s offer discounts, food, or drinks to shoppers. One owner told 12 News the movement has been slow to take off, but they’re definitely seeing an uptick.

Second Saturday is held on the second Saturday of every month.
