BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Firefighters quickly responded to a fire that broke out at the Board of Elections building downtown.

County Executive Mark Poloncarz addressed the media following the fire. According to Poloncarz, everyone made it out safely.

It is unclear what caused the fire at this time or how much damage it caused. A badly burned couch could be seen on the street outside of the building.

The building is shared with the Erie County Sheriff’s Office. Erie County Board of Elections is located on the 3rd floor.
