Long Island man jailed on weapon, drug charges after traffic stop in town of Ulster

TOWN OF ULSTER >> A Sea Cliff, Long Island, man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after a traffic stop on U.S. Route 209 turned up a loaded handgun and marijuana, Ulster town police said.

Nicholas R. Lasser, 22, of Sea Cliff, was arrested by town police at 11:11 p.m. Friday after he was stopped for speeding, police said. Police said he had a loaded handgun and more than 25 grams of marijuana.

Lasser was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor, and speeding, an infraction. He was arraigned in Hurley Town Court before Town Justice John Parker and was sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $25,000 bond pending an appearance in Ulster Town Court.
