Upstate pair arrested for taking pornographic photos of 16-month-old

Syracuse, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A Liverpool man and Syracuse woman have been arrested and charged for allegedly sexually exploiting a 16-month old child by making pornographic images and distributing them, according to the United States Attorney Richard S. Hartunian.

Jason Kopp, 40, of Liverpool, and Emily Oberst, 23, of Syracuse, were arrested Friday by FBI Special Agents following the execution of search warrants.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office, both Kopp and Oberst are being charged with sexual exploitation of a child for making pornographic images and distribution of child pornography.

If convicted of sexual exploitation of a child, they face a maximum of 30 years and a minimum of 15 years in prison. Each charge also comes with a fine of up to $250,000.

This case is being investigated by FBI Albany Division (Syracuse Resident Agency) and the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department-Federal Bureau of Investigation (“MPD-FBI”) Child Exploitation Task Force (Washington Field Office).
