Albany schools pays equivalent of 3 superintendent salaries after midnight deal

The board of education signed off on a separation agreement that promised the embattled superintendent a $90,000 lump sum and continued pay at her nearly $197,000-a-year rate through the end of June.

While the acting position comes without a pay bump, the board has agreed — possibly as soon as next week — to name her interim superintendent, a role that will come with an as-yet-undetermined salary increase.

[…] just over a month later, the board has agreed to pay former district superintendent Raymond Colucciello a per diem for a “special assistant” role in the superintendent’s office.

The school board posted the salary description in a PDF labeled as addendum in a human resources action item that was to be part of routine consent at Thursday’s meeting.

During a board meeting that was largely preoccupied with the issues surrounding the Feb. 9 high school referendum, one resident spent three minutes during public comment haranguing the board for its decision to pay multiple superintendents at once.
